BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A Bridgewater resident is facing a plethora of charges following a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian in a wheelchair with injuries.
Just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1st, Bridgewater Police received a number a 911 calls reporting a pedestrian was hit by a car in the area of 241 Main St. When authorities arrived, they found an injured man laying on the ground in between the roadway and sidewalk, his damaged wheelchair was nearby. The car involved was no where to be seen.
The 75-year-old man was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Upon their initial investigation, officers believe a maroon SUV hit the man before taking off, traveling westbound. Bridgewater Police immediately gave West Bridgewater Police a heads up that the suspect was last seen headed their way. A short time later, West Bridgewater Police found a vehicle, matching both the description and damage consistent with the hit-and-run.
The driver, Bonnie Bowes, was taken into custody. The 61-year-old Bridgewater resident is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court on a number of charges including; Leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, OUI-Drugs causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of property damage and more.
