BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The MSPCA-Angell is sounding the alarm for adopters, after more than two dozen cats and kittens were surrendered from a home in Norfolk County.
The group of animals were taken to both the Boston and Methuen adoption centers to rest and recuperate before they'll be ready for adoption. There are about 30-cats in total, ranging in ages from just weeks old to approximately four years old. Officials said some of the cats may be pregnant, but they're still evaluating the group.
"The owner was taking in stray cats to keep them off the streets where they were in danger of getting hit by a car or worse." Executive Director Mike Keiley said. "She kept them safe and even found familiar give some of them new permanent homes. But the cats bred, and the owner ended up with too many to handle."
Keiley said the woman had reached out to other organizations but none of them were able to assist her, so she ended up calling the MSPCA.
The cats and kittens will soon be up for adoption, looking for their forever homes.
