BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - "Operation Hot August Nights" was a complete success, with Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police arresting nearly three dozen people in an effort to protect the City of Brockton.
State Police describe the operation as a "zero-tolerance mission to interdict offenders responsible for violent crime and narcotics dealing, as well as those negatively impacting quality of life for Brockton residents."
"Operation Hot August Nights" began during the afternoon of Thursday, August 11th, with the arrest of seven people, authorities said were riding dirt bikes and scooters erratically through the community. With help from the MSP Air Wing, two others were taken into custody, including a driver who took off after being pulled over by a Trooper in Brockton. Another person was apprehended, wanted for a parole violation.
Dozens more were arrested through out the operation, including several for drug charges, including possession and intent to distribute. Authorities also made an additional nine arrests for individuals with outstanding warrants and another 22-individuals were taken into custody for motor vehicle violations. All in all, 35 people were taken into custody.
