RAYNHAM, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - It was a happy reunion for a small stray kitten and the first responders who pulled the five-week old from a storm drain last week.
Just after midnight on Sunday, August 13th, Raynham Police and Fire were called to the area of Princess Lane for a kitten trapped inside a storm drain. Officials lowered a pet crate, food and water into the hole and decided to wait to pull the cat from the hole until morning, when sunlight was on their side.
Around 7:30 a.m. the following day, firefighters returned to the drain, hearing the small mew, coming from below. Raynham Firefighter Dom Kuran scaled the eight-foot-deep storm drain and rescued the small animal, who appeared to be uninjured.
Naming the animal "Storm," first responders got the chance to hold, pet, and feed the five-week-old, they'd worked so hard to rescue.
"Storm" is currently in the care of Raynham Animal Control Officer Linda Brackett. It won't be long before "Storm" is ready to find a forever home, Police said there are already a number of potential adopters.
