Making Changes Off The Field: Gillette Celebrates North End Renovations

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The first game of the NFL season is underway, with the first Patriots Game kicking off Sunday at 4:25 p.m. That first throw in Foxboro, used to be a celebration honoring the previous years’ Super Bowl champions with rings and banners. This year, Patriots owner Robert Kraft is celebrating the completion of the North End renovation project.

The Kraft family and Gillette Stadium officials cut the ribbon in front of the new Gillette Stadium Lighthouse to honor of the completion of the $250 million dollar project on Thursday.

“I am proud, that over the last twenty years, our first priority has been to provide the best guest experience possible for all visitors to the stadium and this project will transform and upgrade the fan experience at Patriots games, Revolution matches, concerts and special events for years to come,” said Kraft.

Unlike the previous lighthouse at the stadium, this 22-story lighthouse will be open to the public on non-event days and will be a focal point for game day presentation. Starting on Oct. 1, fans will get to see the stadium from a whole new perspective, as well as the Boston and Providence skylines.

Another major addition in this renovation project is the G-P Atrium, a massive function space with the largest outdoor curved-radius videoboard in the country.

Other improvements include the Ticketmaster entry canopy, a remodeled Row of Honor, the Bud Light Celebration Beer Hall, the Pepsi Grab & Go, connectivity on the Upper, increased restroom capacity, and permanent bars and concession locations featuring new product offerings.
