Showing Your “True Colors”: Boston Children’s Chorus Announces New Theme

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — In honor of the 20th anniversary of the legization In honor of the 20th anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, the Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) announced today that their theme for the upcoming season will be “True Colors.”

Led by executive director Andrés Holder, the BCC will explore what it means to be your true self and embrace all identities with compassion.

“In every note, every harmony, and every word, we will explore what it means to be yourself, inviting our singers and community to embrace the challenges that life presents and transform them into songs of strength and beauty,” said Holder, ahead of the first rehearsal next week“We are thrilled to be acknowledging the 20th anniversary of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, and to educate our singers about the importance of inclusivity for a thriving community.”

The BCC also announced their partnership with composers Melanie DeMore and Darita Seth, an extension of their “Opus Nuovo” program. This program commissions new work from composers that resonates with the BCC’s singers.

After working with DeMore and Seth during the season, the new chorale piece will debut at the BCC’s season finale concert in May. Throughout the season, they will also perform in a Salon series hosted by The Jar, a community building organization in Boston.
