To Do This Weekend: Black Joy Day 2023 To A Town-Wide Yard Sale In Acushnet

BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The weekend has arrived and all that heat and humidity we've been dealing with isn't going anywhere. Friday we'll see highs around 90, before it cools down Saturday. Saturday, you'll want to grab an umbrella or raincoat as there will be a few showers, especially later in the day. Sunday, the humidity sticks around with highs around 80 and the possible shower here or there.

Hang out under the Friday Night Lights

It’s that time of year again, the cleats are hitting the field and the pom-poms are ready to be tossed in the air, as High School Footballs teams begin their fall seasons. Pentucket Regional High not only has it’s first game against Hamilton-Wenham, but it’ll be the first game held in the school’s brand new stadium.

“We are very excited to show off one of the crown jewels of our school buildings project,” said Principal Brenda Erhardt. “Our school community has been patient for the past several years as the new campus unfolded. We are eager to show off this new, amazing facility, and we hope parents, students and supporters will celebrate Opening Night.”

The ICA is partnering with Thaddeus Miles, a photographer, community leader and founder of the Black joy project, to celebrate the 4th annual Black Joy Day in Boston.

"Black Joy Day is more than a moment, it's a movement. A symphony of voices, talents, and spirits, echoing the resilience, love and vibrancy of our community. Let's come together to feel, heal, and revel in the rhythm of joy." Miles said.

If you haven't already checked out View Boston, you now have the chance to do it after the sun sets. Starting this week, every Thursday-Saturday from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. the rooftop bar will stay open.

Get your Greek On.

There are a couple of Greek Festivals happening in and around Boston this weekend. In Somerville, GreekFest kicks off at Noon and runs through Sunday evening. They'll be serving up delicious eats and there will be live music, guaranteed to get your moving along.

In Boston, a three day Greek Festival kicks off at 3:00 p.m. and runs through Sunday. There will be food, music, and entertainment for the whole family.

Hampton Beach Seafood Festival

You’ll want to bring your appetite to New Hampshire’s annual lobster-eating competition and Seafood festival. Lobster, crab, scallops, clams, you name it, you’ll be able to chow down on it. Governor Chris Sununu will once again be the master of ceremonies.

Pirates of the Caribbean at “Old Ironsides”

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum... okay, okay, maybe leave the bottle of rum at home for this movie night. Starting at 7:10 p.m. Old Iron Sides will show "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." You'll want to get there early as eating is first come, first serve. What's more, before the film Museum educators will be on hand, offering free activities related to the ship's history and the flick.

Annual Seaside Le Mans Race in Mashpee

Formula One comes to Mashpee this weekend in the annual Seaside Le Mans race. The event raises money for The Cape Cod Foundation, which distributes 100% of the funds to the designated beneficiaries chosen for the year.

Tis the second weekend fair lads and lasses to travel down to Carver for the annual King Richard’s Renaissance Faire.

Natick Days

Natick’s annual festival celebrating the community is back, showcasing the hard work of small businesses and local organizations that support the Town. Natick Common will transform into a community stage, with food, fun and all sorts of entertainment. In years past, there’s been mini-golf, a moonwalk, a bungee challenge and photo-booths. If you’re worried about parking, don’t be! There will be a free shuttle running between the Common, Natick High School and Wilson Middle School

Acushnet Town-Wide Yard Sale

Talk about a supportive community! The entire town of Acushnet is hosting it’s third annual town-wide yard sale. And this year it’ll coincide with another community staple: The annual Apple Peach Festival on both Saturday and Sunday. This year, nearly 100 households signed up to unload the “hidden treasure” sitting in the back of the garage.

2023 Massachusetts Run for the Fallen

The 10th annual Massachusetts Run for the Fallen takes place this Saturday in Dedham. The 5k run/walk is dedicated to the local military heroes who lost their lives to protect our freedoms since 9/11.

Quincy Pops Concert on the Hancock Adams Common

Why not head to the city of Presidents for an evening under the stars with wonderous live music? The Pops Concert will feature both the Quincy Choral Society and the Quincy Symphony Orchestra.

East Boston Latin Music Festival

It's the second annual East Boston Latin Music Festival, after a successful and vibrant 2022 event. The festival was created by Senator Lydia Edwards, the City of Boston, ZUMIX, and the Veronica Robles Cultural Center, this year is sure to be bigger and better than last year.

Soal Viet Kitchen Gran Prix Beverly

Ready your cycling legs and head to Beverly this weekend for the annual Grand Prix. Described as a "crit," the bike race takes place on a short course, typically less than 5km, and often blocked in by city streets.

SwamptOberfest - RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 23RD

The calendar still reads September, but in Swampscott, it sure feels like October this weekend. The Pats are gearing up for the open of the 2023 season this weekend, as they're set to host the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette on Sunday. This opener will be special for Tom Brady and his fans after team owner, Robert Kraft, invited Brady to the opener after he announced his retirement earlier this year. The GOAT is expected to address the crowd during a half-time ceremony, which will also be streamed live on Patriots.com

Boston Seafood Festival

Lobster, scallops, crab, and roe. It's that time of year again when Boston's best lands on our plates and us New Englanders' celebrate all things seafood. Highlight of the event is the oyster shucking contest, so you may want to opt for leg day Sunday morning. By the way they're still looking for volunteers to help Sunday.
