NEWBURY, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - As Hurricane Lee continues to move up the east coast, the community of Newbury has made the decision to call off the annual PlumFest.
"Our hearts are hurting, but you can't keep us down. We're already getting to work to make 2024 our best event yet." Organizers wrote on social media.
Organizers said they'd been watching the forecast for the last few days and hoped the weather would pass through in time, but with the risk of winds, rain and a potential storm surge, the decision was made to cancel the event.
"Rest assured that we are already planning our 2024 event and will apply your donations to that." Organizers said. "In lieu of attending tomorrow, please consider making a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley, our beneficiary and a cause that is near and dear to our hearts."
