BOSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Lee is now a Post-Tropical Cyclone as of 5:10 a.m. The storm is still producing hurricane-force winds.
As of 7:20 a.m., peak wind gusts as high as 62 degrees have been observed on the Cape.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Boston and all coastal areas, including the Cape and Islands.
Expect strong winds and some rain at times in the Boston area, especially during the morning and in areas near the coast. Some places west of 495 may see no rain at all with some sun late. High temperatures will be close to 70.
Hurricane Lee will bring very rough surf, dangerous rip currents, coastal flooding and beach erosion. Impact will be felt more to the east, then affecting north-facing beaches this morning and later today as Lee passes. AccuWeather predicts wind gusts up to around 50 mph in the city; as high as 60-70 on the Cape and Islands. Residents should prepare for potential power outages, road closures and damage to structures from wind and rain.
Tonight, weather will turn clear with diminishing winds. Low temperatures will approach 60.
That leads the way to a mostly sunny, breezy and warm Sunday, with a high of 77.
