WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities in West Springfield are out with a warning, after a pair of physical altercations at the Big E that appear to be related to an emerging social media trend.
"Information we have received indicate there may be fights staged and recorded, so young people can become 'Tik-Tok famous.' We ask people using social media and the local media to be aware of this trend across the county," West Springfield Police said. "To assure the public’s safety, The Big E and West Springfield Police Department will be boosting security at the fair, especially during the days with large crowds."
Officials said there will be extra patrols inside the Big E, with help from both State Police, the Hampden County Sheriff's Office as well as a number of K9 services from several other police departments in the western part of the state.
