AUBURN, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - Ms. Helene Palmerino has worked at BJ's for more than 30 years and now she's being recognized for not only her hard work over the course of three decades, but for her help assisting law enforcement across the country to bring down two suspects responsible for the theft of thousands of dollars.
It was last month when the pair of alleged thieves walked into the Auburn BJ's store. Ms. Palmerino was working the front door greeting customers when she recognized the two from an internal memo sent to staff. She informed the store manager, who called Auburn Police. Officers stopped the suspects in the parking lot, identified them as the pair they were looking for, and took them into custody.
After the suspects were in police custody, Auburn Police sent out a crime bulletin across the country with the information of the arrest and charges. The department said they got numerous calls from agencies across the U.S. recognizing the suspects in on-going theft investigations.
"Ms. Palmerino actions greatly assisted the APD and other law enforcement agencies in identifying two suspects from this large-scale criminal enterprise." Auburn Police said. "Without her recognizing the suspects, and notifying the proper personnel, it is highly unlikely the police would have encountered, identified and arrested these two."
The suspects were identified as 34 year old Jonathan Munos Queglas from Bronx, NY and 23 year old Banjeline Silva Milleres from Bayside, NY.
Banjeline was held on $25,000 bail and was arraigned in Worcester District Court and Jonathan was held without bail and arraigned in Worcester District Court.
