Situation At Mansfield Hotel Is "Safely Resolved"

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Mansfield was briefly evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a guest threatened to hurt himself and anyone who may try to intervene.

Mansfield Police responded to a 911 call around 4:00 p.m. from the man's mother, who told officers her son was inside the hotel on Reservoir Street, threatening to harm himself and any law enforcement. A Standoff ensued for hours, as officers tried to talk to the man. Around 8:30 p.m. the man accepted help from the officers and was taken to the hospital.

"We would like to thank our partners agencies for helping to bring about a safe conclusion to the situation." Police said.
