FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Three men from Rhode Island could soon face charges in connection to the death of New England Patriots fan Dale Mooney, after the Foxborough Police department applied for criminal complaints against the trio.

Police told WBZ-TV they have "applied for criminal complaints alleging assault and battery and disorderly conduct against three Rhode Island men." Police Chief Michael Grace released a statement saying detectives have been busy reviewing a number of witness interviews and "multiple angles of video capturing the incident."

Mooney died after getting into a fight in the stands of a game against the Miami Dolphins back on Sept. 17. A preliminary autopsy revealed an underlying medical issue and "did not suggest traumatic injury."

Mooney's official cause of death has not yet been determined.

This is a developing story.
