PLYMPTON, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - Several horses are in the care of the MSPCA following an animal abuse investigation in Plympton.

Police said they received multiple reports of possible animal abuse and neglect. Officers opened an investigation and were able to serve a warrant at the home this week. When officers arrived at the home, they removed an unknown number of horses from the property.

Local residents have been quick to offer up help on local social media platforms, offering space on their properties, including room in their barns to house the horses, donating hay and other supplies.

"Like so many of you, we care deeply about the animals in our community, many of our officers have animals and we undoubtedly take these investigations very seriously. It is heartwarming to see how many people are willing to step up to help when animals may be in need, but no surprise either as that is how Plympton is," Plympton Police wrote on a a Plympton based social media group.
