BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Lots of Bostonians ate their veggies on Saturday at Roxbury Community College.
The 28th Annual Boston Veg Food Fest offered a wide variety of plant-based foods and products. Attendees chowed down on chicken-less sandwiches, indulged in FOMU ice cream and stocked up on oils and soaps.
Boston Vegetarian Society’s Dave Havelick said the event stands apart from a typical farmer’s market.
“We’re actually the longest-running veg food fest of its kind in the country,” said Havelick “Over 80 exhibitors, some have free samples, food, we had speakers, cooking demo and it’s really a chance for us to show all the plant base products that are in the marketplace.”
Purple Rain volunteered at the event and made it very clear that she wouldn’t miss this event for anything.
“This is my Christmas of the year,” said Purple Rain. “I wait all year for this. I tell my family and friends, do not get married, do not die, do not get sick this weekend because I’m not going to come to your funeral or your wedding.”
The festival also aimed to be completely zero-waste.
