BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - As November approaches, the MBTA is announcing a number of service changes on the Red, Orange and Haverhill lines. The scheduled changes are all part of ongoing safety and service reliability improvements across the transit system.
Red Line
Starting the weekend of November 4-5, shuttle buses will replace rail service between Alewife and Kendall/MIT Stations. Then between November 14-16, shuttle buses will replace rail service between JFK/UMass and Park Street Stations, then again during the weekend of November 18-19.
Orange Line
On Sunday November 5th, shuttle buses will replace rail service on the Orange Line between Oak Grove and Wellington Stations from the beginning of the day, through around 2:00 p.m.
"This service change is taking place to accommodate an emergency response learning exercise taking place near Malden Center," the MBTA said. "The exercise is an opportunity for public safety officials to exercise emergency response plans, policies, and procedures."
From November 7-12, shuttle bus service will replace rail service on the Orange Line between Oak Grove and North Station.
Haverhill Line
Shuttle buses will replace Haverhill Line trains between Ballerdvale and North Station through November 5th.
"This service change allows crews to perform Automatic Train Control (ATC) work," officials said.
There will be a number of shuttle buses providing connections for those riding the commuter rail, who wish to connect to the Orange Line, Lowell Line and Haverhill Line. Please note, North Wilmington Station won't have shuttle bus service and instead, riders should utilize the Lowell Commuter Rail Line service at Wilmington Station.
