Police Identify Suspect, Victim in Fatal Shooting in Downtown Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) A man is under arrest for allegedly shooting and killing another man in downtown Plymouth Friday evening, according to Plymouth police.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Brent Berkley. He was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, police said.

Witnesses identified 23-year-old David Jerome of Plymouth as a suspect. Jerome has been arrested.

Police received calls reporting gunfire in a town parking lot on Middle Street around 5:45 p.m. yesterday. The two men had been involved in a "traffic incident," police said. They then got in an altercation that turned physical.

Jerome's 18-month-old son was in the car at the time of the shooting, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Jerome is scheduled for arraignment on Monday on charges of murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, reckless endangerment of a child and other charges.
