BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — People Magazine has named John Krasinski as the 2024 Sexiest Man Alive, continuing a three-year streak of New Englanders gracing the special edition cover.
The 45-year-old actor and filmmaker hails from Newton, Massachusetts.
Krasinski is best known for his role as Jim Halpert on “The Office,” which ran from 2005-2013. He also played the titular character in “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” where he portrayed a former Marine turned CIA agent.
He also directed and starred in “A Quiet Place” in 2018 and went on to write and direct the second and third films in the series.
Krasinski told People he thought he was “being punked” when he heard he was being crowned Sexiest Man Alive.
“Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he told People Magazine.
Last year’s Sexiest Man Alive was Patrick Dempsey, who was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine.
Boston native Chris Evans took the title the year before.
New Englanders have also appeared on the cover in years past.
Matt Damon was the Sexiest Man Alive in 2006, and fellow Massachusetts actor Ben Affleck was crowned in 2002.
