As temperatures go down, Eversource customers throughout the state may see their lowest energy rate since 2021.

Customers on Eversource's basic service rate can expect to see a 7% lower winter rate compared to their current summer rate, the company said in a press release.

Eversource also said for customers who use an average of 600 kilowatts per month, costs will be $15 lower than last winter for Eastern Massachusetts and $13 lower for Western Massachusetts.

“A lower price for energy is certainly good news for customers, and we’re pleased to share that it’s the lowest winter rate we’ve seen from power generators in years,” said Penni Corner, Eversource executive vice president of customer experience and energy strategy.

While electric prices are supposed to be low, gas prices have gone up.

Eversource told WBZ-TV in September that natural gas rates would go up about 25% starting Nov. 1.
