BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Travelers arrived at Logan Airport early Wednesday morning in hopes of avoiding long lines ahead of Thanksgiving.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects to screen 2.9 million passengers Wednesday, making it the second busiest travel day this holiday.

Rain is expected in Boston on Thursday, so some travelers at Logan were glad the weather was clear on Wednesday.

“It’s nice for the holiday,” Ryan, who was flying from New York with his son to visit family, said.

“[I’m glad] that we gave ourselves enough time to get here,” he said.

Noreen was headed to Atlanta with her son for a basketball tournament.

“We got here a couple of hours early, so we think that we’ll be good," she said. “We’re going to grab a quick boarding pass and head through security.”

Other travelers agreed that if there is an opportunity to leave for your destination early, it is something worth doing to avoid stress later, especially during a holiday week.
