Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady ate turducken -- a deboned ducked stuffed into a deboned chicken, further stuffed into a deboned turkey -- during FOX Sports' live broadcast of the New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game, but several respondents online were skeptical.
Brady, who kept a notoriously clean diet during his 23-year NFL career, grabbed a turkey leg alongside play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhardt.
“It’s your first official Turducken. What do you think?” Burkhardt asked Brady.
"Let's do it," Brady said before asking, “How did a duck and a chicken get roped into this?”
Brady then took a bite of the turkey leg and continued speaking with the food in his mouth.
“That’s good. That’s really good,” Brady said at the beginning of the second half. “I’m bailing you guys. Have a good night. This was awesome. By the way, this was awesome.”
Several skeptics pointed out that Brady wasn't actually eating the chicken or duck parts of the turducken, rather just a turkey leg.
"No duck or chicken in the turkey leg," one X user wrote.
"He’s eating turkey," another user wrote.
Several others outright doubted that Brady even ate the turkey, claiming he spit it out. Turducken, a dish associated with Louisiana cajun cooking, was synonymous with late Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster John Madden, who called 20 Thanksgiving games during his tenures as the lead analyst for both CBS and FOX, with the winning team being rewarded with the unique food.
Madden, who concluded his career with NBC Sports, was honored by all three networks during their Thanksgiving Day game coverages on Thursday (November 28), an annual tradition that began in 2022, following his death in December 2021.
