Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill appears to have potentially requested a trade in a cryptic post shared on his X account.
"It’s time for me to go coach," Hill wrote without additional context on Wednesday (December 18).
Hill then posted, "I might get my first grey hair this year," possibly referring to his frustrations with the team. The Dolphins are currently 6-8, "on the bubble" in the AFC Playoff picture ranked ninth in the conference, two spots behind the Los Angeles Chargers for the final seed.
Head coach Mike McDaniel downplayed the post, claiming Hill was implying that he should go into coaching.
“I’m reading this as if he’s talking about coaching. There’s not a comma. He’s in great spirits in the locker room," McDaniel said via the Miami Herald on Wednesday.
McDaniel also addressed his own status amid the Dolphins' struggles.
“I’m very comfortable with the realities within the profession I’ve chosen," he said via the Miami Herald. "The alternative is to feel entitled. You know what it is when you sign up for it. I’m not worried about it in the slightest.
“If I’m worried about that, I’m not worried about things I have to offer and the players that are playing. The season hasn’t gone the way anyone wanted, but how often do we say that in life in general? My job is not to predict. My job is to adjust. If you are going to fall short in certain ways, you make those reasons for improvement as you move forward.”
Hill has recorded 67 receptions for 805 yards and five touchdowns in 2024, his ninth NFL season.
