BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Just getting through the doors at TD Garden is a steep price, and that’s before you eat anything once inside.
This week, Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia introduced a $2 value menu. Ishiba said this was intended to provide an option for those attending home games who can’t afford to spend a lot of money on concessions.
The value menu consists of lowered prices for common staple concession items including a hot dog, water, soda, a bag of chips and a bag of popcorn, which are all $2.
This begs the question: would Boston ever be able to do something like this in the future? Some fans are mixed on whether it would be possible.
The Garden currently charges around $6 for a hot dog, $5 for a popcorn, and double digits for a beer.
“Well, what are you going to do? You’re in Boston,” one fan said.
“It’s the same price as some movie theaters, but it’s too much,” another added.
One fan argued that high prices at games is all part of it.
“I think if you’re out for an experience, the options are limited.”
Other fans thought that Phoenix lowering their concession prices presents Boston with a unique opportunity.
“I mean yeah, they should be competitive and try to match [their prices] if there’s a cheaper [option],” another added.
