BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —   Those who had plans to catch a flight on Christmas Eve morning ran into trouble if they were booked with American Airlines, at least temporarily.

American Airlines grounded all its flights nationwide Tuesday morning for over an hour, which created dozens of delays.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke with passengers at Logan Airport in Terminal B.

“We were about ready to go to the airport [and] got a message that our flight was delayed so we took our time, had a little more coffee and just found out after printing our bag ticket that it’s delayed even more!” one passenger said.

Chad had set his alarm clock for the wrong time, and the delayed flight gave him a boost of good luck.

“Instead of setting my alarm for 5 a.m. like a reasonable person I set it for 5 p.m. and then woke up at 8:20 for an 8:30 flight,” he said.

“So happy news for me, it got delayed!” he added.

Julie from Brookline was traveling to Charlotte with her two teenage kids and had an optimistic outlook on the situation.

“It’s fine, it might get delayed further, we’ll just relax and have a nice breakfast at the airport, and we’ll get there eventually,” she said.

When asked how she has been able to have such a positive outlook about the situation, she shared that it all depends on your perspective.

“There are only so many things you can control in life. So, focus on those things because if you try to focus on what you can’t control it will be unpleasant,” Julie added.

Sue from Hong Kong was taking her time to the point where she hasn’t even checked to see if her flight was delayed.

“I’ve had my coffee, and I’ve been eating, drinking, shopping!” she laughed.

The way she sees it, no matter how long her flight is delayed, just seeing snow will make her happy.
