BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Just months after losing her husband, Madeline Gaudreau welcomed a newborn son into the world.
Madeline announced the birth of their son on Instagram Sunday. She revealed his name – Tripp Matthew – and released a photo of the newborn with the caption “Mommy & Daddy’s world.”
Gaudreau’s husband Matthew Gaudreau and his brother Johnny Gaudreau were struck and killed by a drunk driver on Aug. 29 in Southern New Jersey while the pair were out for a bike ride on the eve of their sister’s wedding.
Both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were accomplished hockey players and played professionally for a combined 16 seasons.

Johnny played 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames, while Matthew played five seasons with the American Hockey League (AHL), the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), and Sweden.
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau attended Boston College and played for the BC Eagles from 2011-2014, and from 2013-2017 respectively.
Johnny Gaudreau was 31 years old at the time of his death, and Matthew was 29.
The suspected drunk driver Sean Higgins, was indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 12 on multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, and two counts of first-degree aggravated manslaughter.
