First Lady Melania Trump reportedly leads "her own life" and "will never be a traditional first lady," a political source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE on Tuesday (February 25).
Melania, 54, attended the Governors Ball over the weekend, her first public appearance alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, since they observed devastation aftermath in North Carolina and California on January 24. The source said the first lady's public absence "should not come as a surprise because this is how she lives."
"She will never be a traditional first lady. That isn’t who she is," the source says, adding that Melania has "her own ideas on what she wants to do."
Additionally, the source claimed that Melania "has been involved with moving ahead on her own projects, and recently she has been in the White House for that." The first lady's recent projects include her first published memoir, Melania, in October and her upcoming documentary for Amazon Prime, which has no set official release date but is scheduled for the second half of 2025, according to Variety.
“Melania has been busy shooting her documentary and that has taken place in several locations, including the White House,” a Miami political source told PEOPLE.
