BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) Summer will begin with a bang this year in Massachusetts, with temperatures in the 90s expected this week and next week.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of the state from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday. AccuWeather forecasts highs of 90 degrees, but the humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees, according to the NWS.

The NWS warns of an increased risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke that day. It recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, wearing light weight clothing and avoiding intense outdoor activity in the afternoon.

Rain later on Thursday might bring some relief, with AccuWeather predicting a thunderstorm in the early evening.

It’s supposed to cool down Friday — the first day of summer — and Saturday, but temperatures are expected to shoot back up starting on Sunday.

The NWS said dangerous heat and humidity are expected Monday through Wednesday, with the hottest days most likely being Monday and Tuesday, with feels like temperatures potentially up to 105 degrees.

Potential impacts from extreme heat exposure include muscle cramps, nausea and lightheadedness
