State Rep. John Lawn admitted to the facts in his drunken driving case after an arraignment in Boston Municipal Court Thursday morning, according to State House News.
The Watertown Democrat originally entered a not guilty plea, but later returned to the courtroom and changed his plea, State House News reported. Lawn was arrested on charges of operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident early Wednesday morning.
Lawn is accused of hitting a parked car outside of the State House around 1:45 a.m., and an arrest report reads that officers detected a strong alcoholic odor when requesting Lawn’s license and registration, according to State House News.

The representative put out a statement through his attorney after his arrest: "I deeply regret and take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. I am committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. To my family, friends, and constituents, I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry."
Lawn has represented 10th Middlesex County since 2011, and currently chairs the Committee on Health Care Financing.
