BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Multiple Starbucks locations are set to close in the state after Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced the closure of hundreds of stores across the nation due to underperformance.

The Starbucks stores that are set to close include locations such as Court St. in Government Center, which is home to the iconic golden teapot that greets guests from the outside of the building and spews steam.

The famous location is set to close by the end of the week according to a sign that was left on the front door and shows a QR code that directs customers to find other nearby locations.

Starbucks has not yet announced an official list of stores that are closing but coffee lovers have seen the same message found at Government Center left on the doors of other locations.

People have also noticed that some locations websites don’t show their hours past this upcoming Saturday, possibly hinting at a closure.

However, in Hyde Park it’s been made clear that the store is closing and customers at that location are reacting to the news.

“No, I don’t want them to close…I kind of feel upset,” said one young customer.

“It’s unfortunate that they’re closing cause again I come here pretty often,” said another customer.

“There’s been a lot of fluctuations in their hours and stuff that suggests that they were having a hard time with staffing or like figuring out the market since they opened, so I’m not shocked,” said Hyde Park local Beth.

Affected employees are expected to be transferred to nearby Starbucks locations or offered severance packages.
