BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Bookworms across the Bay State gathered in Copley Square Saturday for the Boston Book Festival.
Featuring keynote speakers like Shonda Rhimes, Patricia Cornwell, Kiran Desai and Hafsah Faizal, attendees had a plethora of literary options to peruse.
"We love going to the vendors, talking to the authors and trying to get their books through. I can't get over how many books there are and how many authors. It's overwhelming," one attendee said.

Book lovers also had a chance to become authors in their own right at the pop-up poetry tent. Attendees got the chance to write about a place, person or athlete that is meaningful in their life.
"Jason Tatum. He inspires me. He's my muse," one attendee said.

Daniel Johnson, executive director of Mass Poetry, invited attendees to write odes to their zip codes with each number in their hometown representing the number of words they had to write in a line.
"We have some workshops on everything from writing, you know, about grief. You know, there's a small press feature with four great presses from the Boston area," Johnson said.
Several outlets were also on hand like Brattle Book Shop, with books for sale, while the Boston Public Library handed out book recommendations.
