CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) If you were anywhere near Central Square on Wednesday, you may have caught a whiff of the sweet scent of marijuana wafting in the air.

That's because many were blazing and raving at a 4/20 block party down the street at Yamba Market in Cambridge, where employees there tell WBZ's Matt Shearer that April 20 is a high priority for plenty of cannabis connoisseurs. Though nobody was allowed to smoke in public because of local law, it was clear that the greens were no stranger to attendees behind closed doors.

"We call it the 'high holiday' so for those of us in the industry, this is our day," said Yamba Market Co-Owner Sean Hope.

Along with 4/20, Yamba celebrates being the first recreational pot shop in Cambridge, something that opened earlier in April off Massachusetts Avenue.

"Everyone is looking to interact, connect on 4/20, we got sixty degrees here- we couldn't ask for a better day," Hope said.

One cannabis enthusiast who goes by the name of "Ice" says that the food at the block party was a great remedy for his munchies.
