5-Alarm Fire Tears Through Hyannis Hotel

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A massive blaze tore through a hotel in Hyannis on Sunday afternoon, growing to a 5-alarm fire before being knocked down.

Calls began to trickle in Sunday afternoon that the Hyannis Harbor Hotel, a 204-room hotel on Ocean street facing Hyannis harbor, was in flames.

The fire did extensive damage to multiple rooms and the roof, but by about 4:30 PM Sunday, crews had the blaze under control.

Hyannis Fire Chief Peter Burke said there were no injuries to report, but that officials could not yet pin down the cause of the fire.

According to initial reports, the fire seems to have started in the attic of the hotel.

This isn't the first time the Hyannis Harbor Hotel had had trouble with fire: a three alarm fire broke out at the same facility back in 2016, according to Capecod.com.
