BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mayor Michelle Wu said city officials are investigating a porch collapse in Dorchester that sent several people to the hospital, with one in critical condition.
According to Boston Fire Chief of Operations Rodney Marshall, nine people were transported to nearby hospitals, and one of the victims remains in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.
Marshall said that a third-floor porch on Hardwood St. came tumbling down at around 10 p.m. Friday, adding that a refrigerator was among the items that fell and hurt the people on the ground.
“I am very grateful for all the first responders who came out, and we are just wishing and praying for a speedy recovery for the individual who is still in critical condition at this moment,” Mayor Wu told WBZ NewsRadio.
She added that city code inspectors are expected to issue a citation to the owner of the building.
Boston Police are also investigating the incident.
