900 Marijuana Plants Found In Worcester Home

WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Worcester Police Department Vice Squad has confiscated almost a thousand cannabis plants from a home on May Street.

Authorities were called to the home on Saturday afternoon for a report of a fire. When they arrived they discovered no smoke or flames, only steam coming from a large illegal grow operation.

A Worcester police spokeswoman said investigators discovered condensation inside the two-story home, which were likely being caused by the makeshift sprinkler system, fertilizer, and heat lamps that were feeding the 900 cannabis plants.

The plants, which were in various stages of growth, have since been confiscated by the WPD Vice Squad. A National Grid lineman cut power to the house later in the evening.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
