SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Bookworms that find themselves buried in a novel checked out from the Salem Public Library no longer have to worry about overdue fines.
In a statement the SPL says it is also launching automatic renewals on its catalog, with eligible titles being renewed on their due dates. Books that sit on a major waiting list, have reached maximum renewals, or are from separate libraries are not eligible for an auto renew.

At 2 a.m. on the morning books are due, the system will try and renew the item and patrons with emails linked to their accounts will receive notice of the action.
The SPL says visitors can contact the library directly with any questions.
