A redesigned painted area of the park is now a space where kids can learn how to ride a bike and learn the rules of the road, safely.
“I think it’s pretty cool, I think it’s going to keep people safe [if] kids learn how to navigate the road,” said one resident.
The new designs feature a scaled-down network of street features painted on the pavement like stop signs, yield signs, turn lanes, and rotaries, to give each kid a realistic experience of what they would experience on the road.
“On a scale that a younger kid can understand sounds like a good idea,” added another resident.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said that bike town is the first of its kind in the city that gives kids the opportunity to play and connect – while also teaching bike riding skills.
Boston Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods said that bike town is where children can gain confidence, learn essential safety skills and foster a lifelong love of biking.
