BEDFORD, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) —  A moose was rescued from a backyard residential pool in Bedford, New Hampshire on Thursday morning.

The Bedford Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene and found the moose trapped under a pool cover and subsequently worked to set it free.

Officers lifted the pool cover to reveal the giant mammal hanging out underneath. The moose backed up and out of the shallow end, hopping onto the side of the pool without using the stairs.

It turned its tail and walked into the woods without further incident.

Bedford Police shared a video of the incident online and reminded residents that if a moose is stuck in your yard, call the authorities and do not handle the situation yourself.
