BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) A “No Kings” protest is set for Saturday on Boston Common as part of a national movement against the Trump administration.

“We’re standing together against the abuses of power, cruelty, and corruption of this Regime and saying with one voice — wicked loud —: ‘America has No Kings!’” read the promotion on the event website.

It follows a previous No Kings protest in Boston that coincided with the city’s pride parade in June.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu will be headlining the event, which runs from 12 to 3 p.m. at the parade grounds at Beacon and Charles streets.

The protest in Boston is organized by a coalition including the ACLU of Massachusetts, Indivisible Mass Coalition and Mass 50501.

The organizers say they’re rallying against growing ICE arrests, and say the administration is also “silencing voters through gerrymandering and voter suppression,” “ignoring mass shootings” and “defying courts, cutting jobs, gutting health care and education, and eliminating food and housing assistance.”

Organizers also emphasize the fact this is a peaceful protest.

“Boston, we can’t stand by. We won’t back down,” reads the website. “We will show what organized, peaceful, nonviolent people power looks like.”

Other speakers and performers a the protest include Rev. Mariama White-Hammond, Good Trouble Brass Band and Chadwick Stokes.

Outside of Boston, No Kings protests are scheduled in over 130 cities and towns across Massachusetts on Saturday.
