MARBLEHEAD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Across the pond, there’s a cult following for yellow rubber ducks in Europe.

Courtney Lobraico and her wife Mandy of Marblehead were fascinated by the craze and made it their family tradition to bring home a collectable rubber duck from their European trips.

“We just fell in love with it,” Courtney told WBZ NewsRadio. “So we decided ‘okay, let’s spread this joy and laughter here,’ and we opened up Wicked Ducks in 2024.”

Their store sells custom luxury rubber ducks dressed in different outfits, from unicorns to popular celebrities. Depending on the duck, the price ranges from around $10 to $25.

It is widely considered that Amsterdam Duck Store started the rubber duck phenomenon, opening their first store in 2015. They have since expanded to 17 locations all over the EU and inspired countless others to follow, including Wicked Ducks on the North Shore.

“We always knew we wanted to not just have a retail store but have something else, something where we could give back to our community,” Courtney said.

Wicked Ducks donates a percentage of its profits to charity. They have partnered with the Red Sox Foundation and plan to create a Red Sox-themed duck and donate a portion of the sales to the organization.

Wicked Ducks is located on 27 Atlantic Ave. in Marblehead.
