NORWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – While it was supposed to be a soft opening, people showed up in droves for the debut of SPoT! Bagel in Norwood Tuesday morning.
Before the doors even opened, people were lined up around the corner. One customer, who waited in line for about 45 minutes, said it was worth the wait to get their hands on one of the shop's fresh bagel sandwiches.
“We have lines of bagels and peoples,” said Owner Perry Makarios. For him, it is important to put out the best food possible.
“We’re about quality not quantity,” Makarios said. “I’d rather make 100 quality sandwiches than 1,000.”

Currently, Makarios is running the business predominately on his own. That is why he is offering up to $25 an hour for people to come and work for SPoT!.
On Sunday, the shop announced that they would be closed and reopen on Tuesday for normal business hours. This was in response to their anticipated opening coupled with their lack of incoming applications.
“We are working tirelessly to fill all hours of operation, but we can only do so much,” they wrote on Facebook. “We appreciate your understanding at this time.”
With all of the buzz the shop gets, Makarios is hoping more employees will help cut into these lines.
“This place has the best bagel sandwiches I’ve had before,” one customer said. “I feel like even if they had ten people in there the line would be this long anyways.”
