SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Somerville was all about soup on Sunday for its first-ever Soupfest nestled inside Bow Market.
Director of Operations at Bluefin Raw Bar Michael Bullock says the idea and collaboration with Tiny Turns Paperie came about just six weeks prior to the event— at Snowport down south in Boston.
"We were just like 'yeah let's do it, let's have some fun.' I absolutely anticipate this will be an annual thing, this was such a resounding success, we figured out a lot of the kinks that we have to work out," Bullock said.
Soupfest tickets varied in price based on what type of soup customers wanted to buy. Between the nine restaurants taking part, there were all kinds of hot liquid meals— everything from dessert to kimchi soups.
WBZ's Jay Willett took the opportunity to ask people waiting in the long lines for the ladle what they thought made soup delicious.

"Chunks. Chunks of something to chew on, not just broth," one fellow said.
"I think it should also be 'gloopy' so it sticks on the way down," another said.
"It make you feel warm and next to a roaring fire," a clam chowder fanatic said.
