SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As kids searched for Easter eggs throughout Bow Market in Somerville Sunday, WBZ NewsRadio's Chaiel Schaffel scored an exclusive interview with the star of the holiday.
"Well, I guess I’ve been the Easter Bunny since I was born," the titular figure said. "I come from a long line of Easter bunnies."

Underneath the giant, floppy-eared head was human Lexie Hofer Griffith, owner of Lexie Butterfly Vintage. In keeping with her store's fashions, the bunny's outfit was made of vintage clothing from the 70s.
"I volunteer to be the Easter Bunny because I just love to dress up," Hofer Griffith told WBZ. "I was not volun-told, I was volunteered."
Hofer Griffith said kids were sometimes hesitant to meet the creature behind the candy.
"The head is a little scary at first for kids, because they’re like ‘What is this,’ so I brought along a couple of my pals. I brought along my teddy bear," said Hofer Griffith.
The Easter Bunny gig was also for a good cause. Any money Hofer Griffith raised through suggested donations during Sunday's photo ops will go towards the Transgender Emergency Fund.
"Though it wasn’t intentional at first, I think it was kind of the universe bringing things together in serendipity that today also happens to be International Transgender Day of Visibility," Hofer Griffith noted. "I thought it would be a great opportunity to take such a joyous holiday that has a dual meaning and use it to uplift our queer neighbors here in Somerville."
Hofer Griffith said other shops in Bow Market are donating to the fund too.
