BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Immigration activists are awaiting an update on the fate of several employees detained by ICE agents in Allston last week.
Nine workers were detained Tuesday, Nov. 4 while on the job at the Allston Car Wash.
"It sad that the good people, the hardworking people are also going through this," one local said.
According to management, the employees had permits to work but were not given the opportunity to show them. Their current status remains unclear as court proceedings continue to play out. As of right now, the detained workers remain in federal custody.
Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley called the incident cruel and harrowing on social media.

Last week, Boston City Councilor Liz Breadon called the incident a "kidnapping" and a "horrifying chapter in the illegal and vindictive targeting of Boston by ICE and the Trump Administration."
Some residents in Allston believe the Trump administration's immigration crackdown is misguided.
"I think that what we're seeing a lot is it's not criminals that are being targeted," one local said.
"They're worried about not being able to be with their family," another resident stated.
The Allston-Brighton chapter of the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of MA raised more than $33,000 for the detainees and their families through a GoFundMe account. The organization has already started the process of distributing funds to help cover rent, bills, food and commissary for the detainees and their families.
