BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, several adjustments were made by businesses to try to cut down the chance of spreading germs; many of those changes were touch-free alternatives.
However, a study from March 2021 revealed that high-speed air dryers could actually leave more contamination than paper towels.
"We observed less droplet and/or microbe dispersion, and consequently lower level of toilet surfaces contamination, following hand drying with paper towels compared to a jet air dryer," the study from Cambridge University Press stated
As CDC and state guidelines loosen heading into the summer, WBZ NewsRadio's Matt Shearer (@MattWBZ) spoke to some people outside a Boston Common public restroom. He asked them how they feel about air dryers.
