BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Airbnb is using Artificial Intelligence to help prevent destructive Halloween parties at its properties.
With Halloween just around the corner, the crackdown uses an AI-driven anti-party system to help block high-risk bookings and assist to enforce Airbnb’s worldwide party ban.
The system was used last year at Halloween and blocked thousands of people across the U.S. from booking, and saw a reduction in the number of disruptive parties over that holiday.
A number of booking characteristics are used to identify high-risk applicants that include length of trip, duration of stay, and whether the request is being made last minute.
In Massachusetts, 2,200 people were denied from booking a home listing on Airbnb last Halloween due to those AI defenses.
