QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — HVAC repair companies are keeping busy this week as high temperatures stretch into the 80s and even 90s.
Such was the case at Trust 1 Services in Quincy on Wednesday. Comfort advisor Kyle Brandao told WBZ NewsRadio the sound of phones ringing off the hook was not much of a surprise.
"So we look at our phones and we’ll be like, 'Oh wow, it’s about to be 80° four days in a row, we have to make sure that everyone is around and everyone is prepared for busier phone lines,'" Brandao said.

According to Brandao, the usual uptick of phone calls starts around this time of year when temperatures rise and people turn on their air conditioners for the first time in months.
"April, May, June, your first start-up, it goes down, and then we’re out there for either replacement or repair," said Brandao.
Brandao recommends people should get their A/C units checked out before the dog days of summer sink in.
"You should be doing your maintenance tune-up right now, like right around now," Brandao said. "You should have already done it because you’re almost already late now."
Aside from maintenance, Brandao also recommends keeping the thermostat at a constant temperature.
"Don’t bounce it back and forth," Brandao said. "Because all you are doing is making the system run over, like turn it back on and turn it back off. That’s when it uses the most energy."
