DUXBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Business is always booming around Thanksgiving for a restaurant in Duxbury, Mass.

Bongi’s Turkey Roost is responsible for many of the Thanksgiving dinners on the South Shore, providing turkey dinners with all the fixings. This year they expect to sell more than 3,000 turkeys.

“If you can do it with turkey, we’ve probably tried it,” said Owner Tom Pierce.

All their turkeys come from a farm in Pennsylvania, raised without hormones. Although they do not raise turkeys anymore, Pierce said the spirit of his grandfather, who started the business, keeps him motivated.

“He moved here in 1938. It was originally a chicken farm. Over the years it evolved into a turkey farm and we’re still going strong here,” said Pierce. “The spirit of my grandfather’s here, it lives on. That kind of drives me.”

Even though they are the busiest around Thanksgiving, they sell turkey products throughout the year.

“Turkey pies are a year-round thing for us. It’s a big part of our business. We have thirteen or fourteen different varieties and different sizes,” said Pierce.
