Alleged Road Rage Incident In Belmont Leaves One Person Dead

BELMONT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities say an alleged road rage incident in Belmont has left one person dead.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a 911 call that man had been hit by a car. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old Boston man with life threatening injuries next to his car in the roadway. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The victim and the man suspected of hitting him allegedly got into a verbal argument before getting out of their cars.

The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Dean Kapsalis, of Hudson, allegedly got back into his car, hit the victim, and then fled the scene.

Authorities say he came to the Belmont Police Department about 30 minutes after the incident happened.

Kapsalis is has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. According to WBZ-TV, he was ordered held pending a hearing on Monday at his arraignment in Cambridge District Court Wednesday.

The incident currently is under investigation.
