BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — American female athletes are rising up in international competition.

U.S. women’s soccer team forward Alex Morgan scored on her 30th birthday to help the United States to a semi-final win over England in the Women’s World Cup Tuesday.

Now, we know the next challenger. The Americans will face the Dutch in France Sunday morning in the World Cup title game.

Netherlands edged Sweden 1-0 Wednesday after midfielder Jackie Groenen’s goal in the 99th minute.

This will be the first between the European champions and the reigning World Cup champions.

Also in women’s sports, American tennis player Coco Gauff reached the third round at Wimbledon.

The 15-year-old Gauff shocked seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams in the opening round of the tournament on Monday.

Gauff is the youngest player to come through qualifying for Wimbledon in the Open Era.
