American Heritage Museum Holds Sweepstakes; Winners Will Drive WWII Tanks

HUDSON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The American Heritage in Hudson is holding a sweepstakes where the winner will be able to drive a World War II tank through an obstacle course.

“It’s really quite a beast of metal and they’re very imposing,” Hunter Chaney, with the American Heritage Museum, said. “When you’re driving around in these tanks and you’re going over the logs and up the hills, it really gives one a sense of invincibility.”

After some basic training, the winner and a guest will operate a M24 Chaffee, a M4A3 Sherman, and a M26 Pershing. However, there will be no live fire.

“Each tank has its own characteristics,” Chaney said.

The winner and their guest will also take the “Inside the Hatch” tour of five rare British, Russian, German, and American tanks.

The American Heritage Museum sweepstakes closes at the end of March. The proceeds will help support the museum.
